Pontypool Tragedy: Grandmother’s Life Cut Short in Four-Car Collision, Family Expresses Gratitude for Support

In a heart-wrenching incident near Pontypool, a 79-year-old grandmother named Pauline Williams, hailing from Talywain, has tragically lost her life in a four-car collision.


Gwent Police authorities have conveyed that Pauline Williams succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital following the accident that unfolded on Monday, August 7.

The fateful crash occurred on the A4042 southbound stretch, precisely positioned between the McDonald’s and New Inn roundabouts, approximately at 11:50 in the morning.

The collision involved four distinct vehicles: a Peugeot, a Ford, a black Mercedes, and a grey Mercedes.

Among these vehicles, Pauline was a passenger in the Ford.


Following the incident, she was immediately transported to a hospital, where, unfortunately, she breathed her last.

Furthermore, she embraced the role of a doting grandmother to Daniel, Bethan, Chloe, Dylan, and Lucy.”

In the midst of their grief, the family acknowledges the support extended to them and has offered their gratitude for the outpouring of kind messages, well wishes, and the abundance of beautiful flowers they have received, reflecting the deep impact Pauline had on those around her.

As the authorities delve into the circumstances surrounding the collision, they are actively seeking information from any individuals who were traveling on the A4042 between 11:45 in the morning and noon on the specified Monday, August 7.

The affected road had to be closed down for several hours to facilitate the investigative procedures at the site.
