Polokwane City Coach Phuti Mohafe Dismisses Transfer Speculation Surrounding Oswin Appollis and Confirms His Stay

Phuti Mohafe Confirms Oswin Appollis’ Future at Polokwane City

Polokwane City head coach Phuti Mohafe has firmly stated that Oswin Appollis, the club’s standout winger, will not be leaving the team after January.

Despite ongoing transfer rumors linking the 23-year-old with a move, especially to clubs in North Africa, Mohafe is confident that the talented player will remain at the club for the foreseeable future.

Appollis’ name has been floating around in transfer discussions for months now, with Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs reportedly showing strong interest in signing him.

However, the coach quickly dismissed any thoughts of the player’s departure.

Mohafe made it clear that the club is not currently focused on making player exits or significant signings during the January transfer window.

No Major Signings for Polokwane City in January

Speaking to the media, Mohafe explained that while Polokwane City is always open to improving the squad, there are no immediate plans to bring in new players during the window.

“There will be no exits, that’s number one,” he said. “We are looking to beef up the team, but we are a team that loves surprises.

As for Appollis and [Thabang] Matuludi, I think that speculation should stop.”

The coach emphasized that Polokwane prefers to keep their transfer plans private, and fans will only see new faces after the window closes.

“We don’t reveal our targets, and you’ll only know who we’ve signed once everything is done.

When that happens, it will be like a hot knife through butter,” he added, teasing that their moves might surprise everyone.

Polokwane City Focused on Their Goals

With transfer rumors surrounding Appollis, Mohafe is keen to shift the focus back to the team’s on-field ambitions.

“We are a self-motivated team.

We set goals, and we haven’t reached our target yet.

We’re just five points off our first-round goal for the season,” he explained.

He also mentioned that the competition for the third spot on the log, particularly with Sekhukhune United, is heating up.

However, the coach remains optimistic about the team’s chances of qualifying for continental football.

“If we finish where we are, why not aim for a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup? It’s our dream to play on the continental stage, and our hunger for it keeps us pushing to win every match.”

The Big Question: Will Appollis Stay or Go?

As the transfer window nears its end, it remains to be seen whether Polokwane City will successfully hold onto Oswin Appollis.

Fans of both the club and Kaizer Chiefs are eagerly awaiting any developments.
