Rivers State Police Eliminate Suspected Cultists Linked to Notorious Kingpin

Deadly Raid in Odiemerenyi Community

In a swift operation, the Rivers State Police Command took down two suspected cultists responsible for the brutal killing of five individuals in the Odiemerenyi community, Ahoada East Local Government Area. The cultists, identified as members of the gang led by wanted kingpin David Gift, aka 2-Baba, allegedly murdered the Divisional Police Officer of Ahoada, SP Bako Angbanshin, in September 2023.

Police Respond to Distress Call

The police received a distress call around 1 am on Sunday, November 12, 2023, alerting them to the presence of suspected cultists in Odiemerenyi community searching for alleged police informants.

Responding swiftly, the Ahoada Police station, along with other tactical units, mobilized to the scene.

Confrontation and Fatal Shootout

Upon reaching the community, the cultists, having already claimed five lives, engaged in a confrontation with the arriving police.

Despite opening fire on sight, the superior firepower of the police force prevailed, resulting in two of the suspected cultists sustaining fatal injuries.

Commissioner of Police’s Directive and Assurance

Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the command, confirmed the successful operation in a statement. The Commissioner of Police has issued orders for the Ahoada Police Division and other tactical units to intensify efforts in apprehending David Gift and any other suspects still at large.

The police reassured the communities, urging residents to go about their legitimate businesses as heightened security measures are in place to thwart potential security challenges.
