Players and Horses Aim for Polo Glory in Jos

Over 100 horses from 33 teams and 130 players are battling for glory and honor as the annual polo tournament sponsored by NASCO Group Nigeria galloped off at the Hassan Katsina Polo field in Jos the Plateau state capital in Central Nigeria.

The eight-day tournament will see teams from Abuja, Kaduna, Yola, Zaria, Minna, Argungu, Maiduguri, Katsina, Kano, Bauchi, Abuja and Keffi vie for the numerous trophies at stake.

NASCO group’s team, NASCO Group Nigeria is also participating in the tournament.

The Public Relation Officer and Vice Chairman, Nigerian Polo Commentators, Hassan Gashash said “19 million naira has been budgeted for the 2021 edition of the Jos international Polo tournament, the last in the circuit of polo tournaments in the country and we are leaving no stone unturned for a hitch-free tournament”.

Acting President Jos Polo Federation, Edward Fom, is assuring tourists and polo enthusiasts that the club will host the best polo fiesta ever promising it will surpass previous editions in every respect.

In preparation for the Jos International Polo tournament, NASCO Group Nigeria makers of NASCO biscuits renovated the club house and gave the field and stables a complete make over for the comfort of players, horses and stable hands.

The tournament ends on new year’s eve, Friday the 31st.
