Peter Obi Calls for Impartial Judiciary and Condemns Attempts to Distract and Smear

…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate in the February 25, 2023 elections, has expressed concern over attempts by certain individuals, whom he refers to as “agents of retrogression,” to undermine the impartiality of the judiciary.

In a statement issued by the Head of the Obi-Datti Media office, Diran Onifade, Obi urged these entities to refrain from actions that could divert the nation’s judiciary from fulfilling its critical national tasks.

Concerns over Distractions and Curious Happenings:

The statement highlights Peter Obi’s deep concern about recent events that seem to be distracting the judiciary from its essential duties.

This includes threats of anarchy and chaos if the ruling party’s candidate is legally removed by the Presidential Election Petition Court (PECP).

Furthermore, there have been allegations of a telephone conversation involving the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukoyade Ariwoola, which the Supreme Court has denied.

Additionally, a bizarre fake news story claiming that a panellist at the ongoing PEPC hearing had resigned has also raised concerns.

Call for Unwavering Focus on National Assignment:

Peter Obi emphasizes that the judiciary’s complete focus should be on its critical national assignment and that any distractions are unwarranted.

The nation’s future relies on the outcome of the judiciary’s tasks, and it requires everyone’s support and cooperation to ensure justice is served effectively.

Warning Against Smear Campaigns:

The Obi-Datti Media office warns against rogue Troll and Fog Machine agents who are engaged in smear campaigns against Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed.

The statement recalls at least seven failed attempts to discredit and demarket the principals.

With the PEPC judgment approaching, the statement cautions Nigerians not to be deceived by deep, fake, and dubious ploys orchestrated under the guise of partisan politics.

Appeal for Security and Safety:

The statement calls on security agencies to ensure the safety and security of Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed in their public and private endeavors.

Amid ongoing nefarious activities and attempts to smear their reputation, the office implores the security agencies to protect them from any harm.

Peter Obi’s statement emphasizes the need for an impartial judiciary and condemns attempts to distract and undermine the judicial process.

He urges individuals to focus on the critical national assignment and refrain from engaging in smear campaigns or any actions that may hinder the delivery of justice.

The appeal for security highlights the importance of protecting public figures from potential harm in the heated political atmosphere.
