Nwobu contends that his statement was distorted with the intention of diverting public attention.

In a statement conveyed through Uloka Chibuike, the deputy director of media and publicity of the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Committee, Nwobu reiterated that the petition filed by his party at the tribunal was directed towards the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), not the Labour Party or Peter Obi.

The statement denounced the fabrication and labeled it a deliberate attempt by a small group to discredit and blackmail Chief Nwobu.

It confirmed that Nwobu appeared on June 7, 2023, as the 11th witness for Atiku Abubakar and the PDP, emphasizing INEC’s failure to adhere to its election guidelines for real-time electronic transmission of polling unit results.

Additionally, the statement clarified that Nwobu explicitly stated before the tribunal that the Labour Party emerged as the winner of the presidential election in Anambra, rather than alleging that Obi had rigged it.

Nwobu made it clear that the dispute was with INEC, not the Labour Party.

The PDP urged the public to disregard the false news and cautioned online bloggers against promoting sensational headlines without conducting thorough investigations.

The party pledged to present all evidence against INEC and the APC, aiming to demonstrate that the presidential mandate given to Atiku Abubakar by the majority of Nigerians had been unlawfully seized, emphasizing the need to rectify the situation and reclaim the mandate from the APC.
