Ozubulu Community Celebrates Ordination  Episcopal Silver Jubilee Of Bishop Uzoukwu

Ozubulu Catholic Community, in Ekwusigo Local Government Area has celebrated  the Episcopal Ordination Silver Jubilee of one of their illustrious sons, Most Reverend Dr Martin Igwemezie Uzoukwu, the Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of  Minna.

The celebration which started with a pontifical high mass at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church Amakwa Ozubulu, attracted Bishops, Priests, Reverend Sisters, top government officials, Ndi Ozubulu, friends and well-wishers who came to share in the joy of the celebration.

The Episcopal Ordination Silver Jubilee also coincides with Most Reverend Dr Uzoukwu’s fortieth years of priesthood and seventy-one years of age.

 

Speaking shortly after the mass, the celebrant Dr. Uzoukwu thanked God for his goodness as well as his parents and teachers and noted that it was a thing of joy and gratitude to God for celebrating seventy-one years of age, forty years of priesthood and twenty-five years of Episcopal Ordination, and called on Christians to live holy lives, donate to the church, render selfless service to God and humanity, among others.

Earlier in a homily, Reverend Father Vitalis Anaehobi spoke about the life and emergence of the celebrant as a bishop, his input and efforts to reposition priesthood within and outside the Catholic Diocese of Minna, stating that he combined his vision with a clear mission which is evident in the Diocese of Minna where his work has uplifted and made the Diocese a reference point among other dioceses.

 

Speaking on behalf of Ozubulu Priests, the Very Reverend Father Theophilus Odukwe of Saint Charles Luanga, New Heaven, Okpoko, said the celebrant is a man full of grace and prayed to God to bless and protect him.

 

In a goodwill message, the Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue who is an indigene of Ozubulu, said the celebrant has been an achiever in many ways and have equally impacted many lives.

 

The Chairman on the occasion, and the  Anambra State Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance Sir Norbert Obi noted that they are celebrating with great joy, happiness and fulfillment, even as the traditional ruler of the Community, Igwe Nnamdi Oruche commended the celebrant for his contributions in ensuring that peace prevailed in their community.

 

Correspondent Amaka Chibuzor Okoye reports that a book written by the celebrant, titled ” Jesus, Mary I Trust in You’’ was reviewed and launched, while special thanksgiving, cutting of anniversary cake and other performances added glamour to the event.
