Old Boys Association Of Nnamdi Azikiwe Secondary School Holds Maiden Convention At Abagana Njikoka Council Area

The Old Boys Association of Nnamdi Azikiwe Secondary School, Abagana, has held its maiden Convention.

The convention which took place at the school premises attracted past and present students, principals of the school, the traditional ruler of Abagana, Igwe Mbamalu-Okeke, friends and well-wishers, among others.


The role of Alumni in the development of an institution cannot be overemphasized as these days, major developments in schools are carried out by the alumni, hence the inauguration of old boys’ association of NASSA to critically intervene in the development of the school.

In his address, the protem President of the association, Pastor Patrick Obumselu represented by Barrister Peter Ozobialu, said that the reason for the inauguration of the body is for them to fashion out ways to contribute their quota towards improving and sustaining the facilities in the school as well as quality of education offered therein, and noted that they have a huge assignment ahead of them which requires high level of commitment from all of them to drive the vision.


Earlier in an opening remark, the oldest alumnus present, Dr Ugochukwu Eweani, recalled how the school started during the Zikist’s movement and her accomplishments over the years, adding that there is still room for improvement.

The secretary Maiden Convention Organizing committee, Barrister Isaac Onuorah, explained that the essence of the gathering was for the old boys to interact, resuscitate old alliances and conviviality and as well make inputs to make the school better.


In a remark, the Principal of the school, Mr. Fidelis Obalim, listed areas that need urgent intervention in the school to include security, employment of more teachers, renovation work on some classroom blocks among others assuring them of the cooperation of the management of the school at all times.


Correspondent Queen Anigbogu reports that a novelty match, presentation of awards to founders of the school, presentation of gifts to past and present principals of the school featured during the event.
