Tragic Inquest Reveals Heartbreaking Details: Three Children Stabbed to Death in Family Home, Mother Detained Under Mental Health Act

In a heartbreaking revelation during an inquest, it was disclosed that three children, including a nine-month-old baby, were tragically stabbed to death at their family home in the Sea Mills area of Bristol on February 18.

The victims, identified as Fares Bash (7), Joury Bash (3), and Mohammed Bash, were discovered with stab wounds, with Fares also showing signs of possible asphyxia.

Mother Detained Under Mental Health Act

Avon and Somerset Police reported earlier this month that a 42-year-old woman had been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the children’s deaths.

The woman, identified as the children’s mother, was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and was subsequently detained under the Mental Health Act pending further investigation.

Father’s Agony and Community Mourning

The inquest opening was attended by the children’s father, Alfil Bash, who tearfully expressed his devastation at the loss of his children.

Describing his oldest son Fares as a “genius boy,” Mr. Bash shared fond memories of his children and struggled to comprehend the tragedy. The local community, including members of the Sudanese community, gathered to mourn the loss of the three children, expressing shock and sorrow over the heartbreaking incident.

Heart-Wrenching Home Video and Tributes

Heartbreaking home video footage emerged showing the two older siblings, Fares and Joury, playing together before their untimely deaths.

The poignant clip captured moments of joy and innocence, highlighting the devastating loss suffered by the family.

Tributes poured in for the children, with friends and community members remembering them as beautiful, happy kids who brought joy to those around them.

Investigation and Support

Following the tragic incident, Avon and Somerset Police referred the matter to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) over prior contact with the family.

While the IOPC determined that no investigation was needed at that time, the police continue to provide support to the children’s next of kin and express gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community during this difficult time.
