President Tinubu’s Private Visit to Paris

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to embark on a private visit to Paris, France, departing from Abuja.

The announcement of this trip was conveyed through a brief statement by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

Return in Early February

The anticipated duration of President Tinubu’s visit is until the first week of February 2024, after which he is expected to return to the country.

Debunking Rumors on FCT Relocation

Contrary to circulating rumors, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has refuted claims that there are plans to relocate the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to Lagos State.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Onanuga dismissed those spreading such reports as dishonest individuals with ethnic and regional biases, attempting to gain attention for themselves.

History of Rumors

Onanuga explained that these rumors had surfaced during the presidential campaign in 2023 as a purported strategy to thwart Tinubu’s presidential aspirations.

However, he emphasized that such speculations were dismissed during that time.

Legal Standing of Abuja as the FCT

Highlighting the legal backing for Abuja as the Federal Capital Territory, Onanuga affirmed that it is established by law and is a permanent fixture.

He clarified that the relocation of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), a department of the Aviation Ministry, to Lagos does not equate to moving the entire FCT to Lagos.

The strategic move of FAAN, he argued, is distinct from the status and permanence of the FCT.
