In Kano State, Nigeria, the Nigeria Police Force has made a significant arrest of a female drug pusher identified as Ladi Peter.

The apprehension occurred when a team of officers raided a drug cartel located at Kwanar Dangora in Kiru Local Government Area of the state.

According to the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the arrest took place on July 18, 2023, around 8:00 pm.

The police team, engaged in Highway Surveillance Patrol along Kwanar Dangora, intercepted a Golf series 3 model motor vehicle due to suspicions of reckless driving.

The officers acted swiftly and pursued the driver when they attempted to escape arrest.

The pursuit led to the driver losing control of the vehicle, resulting in a somersault.

Subsequently, the driver was arrested, and the police discovered seven bags of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

Unraveling the Drug Supply Chain

Following the initial arrest, the Commissioner of Police ordered heightened vigilance to make further arrests and conduct discreet investigations to trace the drug supply chain.

The police intensified their efforts, utilizing community collaboration, intelligence-led operations, and technical support.

This approach led to a breakthrough on August 4, 2023, with the arrest of the main suspect, Ladi Peter, a 47-year-old female residing in Angwa Kudandan Nassarawa, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Significant Seizure and Accomplice Arrests

During the operation, a total of 61 bags of compressed dried leaves, suspected to be Indian Hemp, were recovered from the female drug pusher.

Additionally, the police discovered other incriminating evidence, including two sets of military uniforms, red berets, sets of shin guards, and a desert boot.

Further investigations led to the arrest of two accomplices, Umar Saleh, aged 38, from Unguwan Dosa, Kaduna North Local Government Area, and Ahmad Naheed, aged 36, from Nassarawa Chikun Local Government Area, both in Kaduna State.

All suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime.

Transferring the Case to NDLEA

Following the successful arrests and seizures, the State Commissioner of Police, Mohammad Gumel, directed that the case be transferred to the state office of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano for further investigation.

A Stern Warning to Criminals

In response to the arrest and to deter criminal activities in the state, CP Gumel issued a strong warning that criminals would no longer find a hiding place in Kano.

The police command pledged to maintain a rigorous approach, conducting patrols, raids of criminal hideouts, and focusing on black spots across the state.

He called upon residents to support the police by providing credible information that would aid in apprehending criminals in the region.
