Khaid’s ability to blend his Lagos-born style with worldwide influences was on full display in his 2022 debut album, DIVERSITY. Young Nigerian musician Khaid, only 17 years old as of the release of his EP “Emotions,” now provides a fresh musical voice.
Khaid’s music encompasses a wide variety of emotions, from joyful sing-alongs to introspective love ballads, and Emotions encourages listeners to embrace all of them. His ability to evoke a wide range of feelings with his music is demonstrated by the ease with which he blends spirituality and passion. The Emotions EP showcases Khaid’s growth and promise as an artist of the next generation. Whether it’s through choral sounds or frenetic drum patterns, Khaid aims to create songs that resonate with listeners.
Khaid wrote “Hold Me” and its appealing tune was inspired by a walk on the beach. After receiving an enthusiastic phone reaction from a buddy, he saw the potential of the idea. The hymn “No Time” was inspired by was one that Khaid kept hearing in his brain. It’s an emotional tune with a melody evocative of Catholic hymns, and it could resonate with anyone who enjoy music about love and loss.
When creating “Jolie,” Khaid strove for originality. The song’s producer, BMX, says it was inspired by more established Nigerian performers, and that its catchiness makes it stand out in the contemporary music industry. Khaid’s “People (Evil)” is a response to allegations that he lacks lyrical substance. It gives him an opportunity to reflect on his life thus far and demonstrate his range as a musical storyteller.
The most current single, “Anabella,” is an upbeat continuation of the previous single, “Jolie.” Khaid’s creative and inventive approach to music is on full display in this song he made for fun. It’s strange that when a specific person’s name appears in one of his songs, listeners often feel a strong sense of connection, even if it was just coincidental.Khaid’s ability to connect with his audience on a personal level is on full display in the Emotions EP.
