San Diego Beachfront Mansion Sells for Record-Breaking $44.1 Million

An unnamed buyer purchased a beachfront mansion in Del Mar, California for a record-breaking $44.1 million.

The property is located a few doors down from Bill Gates’ home and has a ranch-style main residence, a guesthouse, and a detached apartment, with eight bedrooms and seven-and-a-half bathrooms. The mansion also has a swimming pool and a tennis court.

Mystery Buyer Snaps Up San Diego Mansion Near Bill Gates’ Home

The buyer of the mansion is a mystery, but real-estate agent Brian Guiltinan, who brokered the deal, said that the property is significant because it is over an acre on the sand with 110 feet of frontage on the ocean.

The seller is a corporation tied to descendants of C.E. Toberman, a developer who helped build Hollywood landmarks such as Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.

San Diego Ranked Most Expensive Place to Live in US

San Diego was ranked the most expensive place to live in the US by the US News and World Report. The report revealed that home prices in San Diego exceed the national median sale prices, and residents in the downtown area have to pay homeowners association fees if they live in housing complexes.

The median price of a home in San Diego is $919,507, while the monthly rental price is $1,842.

Bill Gates purchased a six-bed beachfront home on the same street as the mansion in 2020 for $43 million. The home has a ten-person jacuzzi and swimming pool overlooking the ocean.
