Multi-vehicle crash leaves one dead, closes Auckland motorway

According to a St John representative, one person was killed in a major incident on Auckland’s southern freeway.

According to police, a section of the highway has been closed southbound near Gillies Ave due to a multi-vehicle incident that has resulted in serious casualties.

The crash occurred around 8.10 p.m. on Thursday evening.

Three St John ambulances responded to the accident and informed Stuff that one person was transferred to Auckland City Hospital and another died at the spot.

Drivers in the vicinity should exit the highway at Gillies Ave and re-enter at Greenlane.
