Mohammed Al Sharqi honours winners of 2022 UIM XCAT World Championship

FUJAIRAH, 6th March, 2022 – H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, has underlined the significant role played by sporting activities in boosting the country’s global competitiveness ranking, highlighting the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, to advance aquatic sports and consolidate the emirate’s reputation for hosting global competitions.

This came as Sheikh Mohammed, in the presence of Sheikh Saif bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Chairman of Fujairah International Marine Club, honoured the winners of the UIM XCAT World Championship, which was held in the emirate.

Italian competitors dominated the second round of the 2022 UIM XCAT World Championship. Matteo Niccolini and Tomaso Polli steered SIX to the race win, with fellow countrymen Roberto Lo Piano and Giampaolo Montavoci taking third. Italy’s Giovanni Carpitella was racing with Aussie Darren Nicholson in 222 Offshore and they secured second overall.

UIM XCAT World Championship is the most exciting event in powerboating. The largest group of powerboat racing boats with the major number of participating nations, together with the most competitive and spectacular race courses, make of it the most fascinating and thrilling event in offshore powerboat racing.
