Mia Goth has filed for divorce from actor Shia LaBeouf, formally bringing an end to a relationship that has lasted more than a decade and included marriage, separation and reconciliation.
The 32-year-old actress submitted the divorce documents on Tuesday night, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the grounds for the split.
According to the filing obtained by The Daily Mail, Goth lists July 28, 2025, as the date of separation.
Goth is seeking primary legal and physical custody of the couple’s four-year-old daughter, Isabel.
She has also asked the court to terminate its ability to award spousal support to either her or LaBeouf, 40.
Representatives for both actors were contacted for comment but had not responded at the time of reporting.
The Couple Share a Four-Year-Old Daughter
Goth and LaBeouf are parents to Isabel, who was born in March 2022.
The couple had reconciled several years earlier after previously ending their relationship.
They first met while working together on the 2013 film Nymphomaniac: Vol. II and began dating in December of that year.
Their relationship later became the subject of considerable public attention.
The pair married in Las Vegas on October 10, 2016.
Their relationship had already experienced a number of difficulties by that point.
In 2015, the couple were filmed during an explosive argument, and they subsequently separated in 2018.
Goth and LaBeouf Reconciled After Their 2018 Split
Following their separation, Goth and LaBeouf eventually reunited in 2020.
Their reconciliation became more widely known when Goth was reported to be pregnant with their child in 2022.
During their earlier relationship, LaBeouf had spoken publicly about Goth’s importance in his life.
On the REAL ONES podcast, he credited her with helping him through a difficult period, saying she had given him hope when he was “really running on fumes.”
The couple’s relationship had previously been described as turbulent, despite their periods of reconciliation.
LaBeouf Faces Legal Troubles
The divorce filing comes after a period of legal trouble for LaBeouf.
The actor was arrested in New Orleans in February following a drunken altercation at a bar.
In June, he pleaded guilty to three counts of simple battery.
Orleans Parish Judge Juana Marine-Lombard sentenced LaBeouf to six months, suspended, along with two years of probation.
He was also ordered to stay away from the alleged victims and the bar involved in the incident.
Days after his February arrest, LaBeouf rejected the suggestion that he had a drinking problem during an interview with journalist and YouTuber Andrew Callaghan.
He said he did not believe rehabilitation would necessarily address the issues behind his behaviour, arguing that anger and ego, rather than alcohol, were at the centre of what happened during Mardi Gras.
Actor Has Faced Several Previous Arrests
LaBeouf has had multiple encounters with law enforcement over the course of his career.
In 2017, he was arrested in New York City on suspicion of assault during a livestream.
Later that year, while filming The Peanut Butter Falcon in Georgia, he was arrested for public drunkenness and accused of disorderly conduct and obstruction.
He was subsequently sentenced to probation.
In 2020, he was charged in Los Angeles with misdemeanor battery and petty theft.
LaBeouf, who converted to Catholicism several years ago, has also spoken publicly about personal struggles during his career.
During his interview with Callaghan following the New Orleans arrest, he made comments about gay men that he acknowledged could be viewed as homophobic.
FKA Twigs Relationship Ended in Legal Dispute
During one of his periods apart from Goth, LaBeouf began dating British singer FKA Twigs in 2019.
Their relationship later resulted in a high-profile legal dispute.
In December 2020, FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit accusing LaBeouf of sexual, physical and emotional abuse and alleging that he knowingly gave her a sexually transmitted infection.
LaBeouf denied the allegations.
The lawsuit sought $10 million in damages and included claims of sexual battery, assault and emotional distress connected to their relationship.
In July, it was revealed that the legal dispute had been settled privately.
FKA Twigs requested that the claims against LaBeouf be dismissed with prejudice, meaning they could not be brought again.
Attorneys representing both parties confirmed at the time that the matter had been resolved privately.
Goth and LaBeouf Had Previously Divorced
The current divorce filing is not the first time the couple have faced the prospect of ending their marriage.
After their 2018 separation, reports emerged that the pair had filed for divorce.
A source told Page Six at the time that the separation was amicable and that details of the proceedings would remain private.
The couple later reconciled, eventually welcoming their daughter before separating again.
The latest filing now formally records Goth’s request to dissolve the marriage, with the actress citing irreconcilable differences and seeking primary custody of their daughter.
