Mayor Harrell seeks new members for Ballard Avenue Landmark District Board

Mayor Bruce Harrell is seeking two new members to serve on the Ballard Avenue Landmark District Board in the Architect and Community Historian positions. The Ballard Avenue Landmark District Board reviews and makes recommendations to the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods Director regarding proposed changes within the district such as signage, awnings, landscaping, storefront designs, paint colors, building materials, street furniture, and new construction.

The Board consists of seven members serving two-year terms.  Five members are elected by the Ballard Avenue Landmark District community for the positions of Resident (1), Property Owner (2), and Property Owner or Business Person (2).  The positions of Architect and Community Historian are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Seattle City Council.

Board meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m. In general, board members must commit approximately 2 hours per month to Board business. Board members serve without compensation. All board meetings are currently held virtually.
