Mayo Belwa Muslim Council Bans All Social events during wedding ceremonies

The Muslim Council, Mayo-Belwa Local Government chapter has banned organizing of cocktail party, luncheon and other un-Islamic innovations during weeding among Muslims in Mayo-Belwa local Government area.

The chairman of the council in the area, Ahmadu Liman Aminu announced this at the palace of District Head of Mayo-Belwa on Sunday.

According to the chairman, the council took the decision after wide consultations with stakeholders in the area including Imams, and community leaders.

Other weeding activities which the council banned are organizing of mother’s day, Fulani day and unveiling of the bride, known as “Budan Kai“ in Hausa.

Modibbo Ahmadu described such marriage programmes as innovations which makes conduct of marriage these days difficult, and money consuming.

He appealed to Muslim parents in the area to show understanding and support the council in its efforts at making marriage affordable in line with teachings of Islam.

There were question and answer sessions during the event on the new rules by the council.

The Caretaker Committee Chairman Mayo-Belwa, Alhaji Muhammadu Buji represented by the supervisory council for Natural Resources Buba Wuro Gi`e lauded the Muslim council for initiative and expressed his support.

On his part the District Head of Mayo-Belwa, Ardo Muhammadu Bamanga Dalil called on Muslims to always stick to the teachings of the Qur`an tradition of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.

During the event the executive members of the Centre for Qur`an Reciters of Nigeria Mayo-Belwa local government chapter were inaugurated.
