Matthew Perry’s Family Speaks Out About His Passing: ‘He Brought Joy to the World’

In the wake of the devastating loss of actor Matthew Perry at the age of 54, his family has broken their silence. The beloved Friends icon tragically passed away on October 28, reportedly due to an accident in his hot tub at his Pacific Palisades residence.

In their heartfelt statement, Perry’s family expressed their profound sorrow and gratitude for the outpouring of love.

The family conveyed to TMZ: “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend. You all meant so much to him, and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love.”

Emergency responders were summoned to his Los Angeles home around 4 pm following a call reporting a suspected cardiac arrest. Perry was discovered unconscious in his hot tub, with later confirmation from law enforcement sources that he had drowned.

Perry’s family, including his father John Bennett Perry and mother Suzanne Morrison, were present at the scene. Perry’s parents had separated when he was young, and his mother later married Keith Morrison, with whom she had four children, all of whom are Perry’s half-siblings.

Perry’s tragic death does not appear to involve foul play, and law enforcement sources indicated that no illicit drugs were found at the scene. However, several prescription medications were discovered in his home.

According to TMZ, the actor was taking anti-depressants, anti-anxiety drugs, and a COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) medication, which helps reduce lung inflammation and relax airways.
