Angelo Bruschini, the guitarist for Massive Attack, has died at the age of 62 after a battle with pleomorphic carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of lung cancer. Bruschini joined Massive Attack in 1995 as a touring member and contributed to their 2003 album 100th Window. He was known for his unique style of guitar playing, which helped to shape the band’s sound.
Bruschini was diagnosed with lung cancer in July 2023. He underwent chemotherapy but the cancer was inoperable and spread quickly. He died on October 24, 2023.
Tributes have poured in for Bruschini from fans and fellow musicians alike. Massive Attack described him as a “singularly brilliant and eccentric talent” and said that his contribution to the band’s canon was “impossible to quantify.”
Bruschini is survived by his wife, Jessica Merritt, and their son, Joel.
