Manqoba Mngqithi secures another dominant victory over Kaizer Chiefs at Moses Mabhida Stadium to extend his winning streak

Golden Arrows head coach Manqoba Mngqithi is having a season to remember when it comes to facing Kaizer Chiefs.

Once again, he managed to outsmart the Soweto giants, securing yet another victory over them.

His latest triumph came on Saturday afternoon at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, where his side handed Chiefs their 10th league defeat of the season.

This win further cemented his impressive record against Amakhosi this campaign.

A Rocky Road Before Success

Mngqithi’s coaching journey this season has been anything but smooth.

He initially took the reins at Mamelodi Sundowns, replacing Rulani Mokwena.

However, his tenure was short-lived, lasting only five months before parting ways due to underwhelming results.

Despite his struggles at Sundowns, one thing remained constant—his ability to defeat Kaizer Chiefs.

During his stint with Sundowns, he managed to beat them twice.

Now back at Arrows, he has done it again, making it three victories over Chiefs this season.

More Goals Were There for the Taking

After securing a hard-fought 2-1 win, Mngqithi expressed that his team could have scored even more had they been more clinical in front of goal.

“I’ve beaten Kaizer Chiefs three times this season,” Mngqithi told Sportswire.

“This match could have had a different scoreline if my players had taken those missed chances.”

His comments reflect his belief that Arrows dominated the game and could have put the result beyond doubt earlier.

Chiefs’ Coach Left Frustrated

On the other hand, Chiefs’ head coach Nasreddine Nabi was left to rue his team’s missed opportunities, especially in the first half.

“We controlled the game in the first half and had chances to score, but we didn’t take them,” Nabi told SABC Sport.

Adding to their struggles, an injury to Thabo Cele disrupted their momentum in the second half, affecting the team’s balance between defense and attack.

A Tough Blow for Chiefs

Despite trying to fight back, Chiefs conceded a crucial goal, which Nabi admitted made it incredibly difficult for his team to recover.

“The changes we made helped us get back into the game, but then we conceded a goal out of nowhere.

After that, it was very difficult to come back,” he explained.

As Arrows push for a strong finish in the top eight, Chiefs are left searching for answers as their inconsistent season continues.
