Labour has been under criticism for rethinking its decision to let staff take advantage of the new income tax relief.

The Government’s decision to reduce the basic rate from 20p to 19p next year, as revealed in Kwasi Kwarteng’s most recent mini-Budget, was judged “appropriate” by Leader Sir Keir Starmer.

However, in a series of interviews with Sky News and Times Radio, Labour’s spokesman for jobs and pensions Jonathan Ashworth said that his party would reverse all of Mr. Kwarteng’s moves.

While the Conservatives are, on average, saving Britons £500 off their tax bill, Conservative Party Chairman Jake Berry said last night:

“Labor is committed to increasing taxes,”

Minister for the Cabinet Office Brendan Clarke-Smith referred to Mr. Ashworth’s comments as “another screaming U-turn from Labour.”
