Labour Party Faction Slams Abure-led Group for Criticizing President Tinubu and Supports Emefiele’s Suspension

…By Larry John for TDPel Media. The Lamidi Apapa-led faction of the Labour Party (LP) has strongly criticized the Julius Abure-led faction for their condemnation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding the suspension of Godwin Emefiele, the controversial Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

In a statement issued by the spokesman of the Apapa-led faction, Dr Abayomi Arabambi, the party commended President Tinubu for upholding June 12 as Democracy Day in honor of the late Chief MKO Abiola.

The faction urged Nigerians to support the initiatives of the Tinubu-led Federal Government while also expressing their willingness to offer criticism when necessary.

Controversy over Emefiele’s Suspension:

Arabambi highlighted the discrepancy between the two factions, suggesting that the Abure-led faction’s condemnation of the suspension and arrest of Emefiele may confirm rumors that the suspended CBN governor was involved in sponsoring Peter Obi’s presidential bid.

The Apapa-led faction argued that any government official who abuses their position, as Emefiele allegedly did by running for the presidency and implementing ill-timed policies like the new Naira redesign, should face legal consequences.

Strong Criticism and Call for Investigation:

Arabambi further criticized the statements made by Obiorah Ifoh, the spokesperson of the Abure-led faction, considering them to be filled with tribalism, egocentrism, and nepotism.

The faction called for a thorough investigation into Emefiele’s actions during his tenure, citing allegations of terrorism financing and his alleged involvement in misappropriating funds.

The Apapa-led faction urged the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to conduct their investigations without hindrance and share their findings with the public.

Limited Response from LP National Publicity:

When contacted for a reaction, LP National Publicity, Obiora Ifoh, declined to comment extensively on the matter, stating that they did not want to provide undue publicity to the Apapa-led faction.

He expressed their focus on addressing issues of national importance rather than responding to what they consider to be the actions of impostors.

Conclusion:

The ongoing dispute between the Lamidi Apapa-led and Julius Abure-led factions of the Labour Party intensifies as the former faction criticizes the latter’s condemnation of President Tinubu and expresses support for Emefiele’s suspension.

The factions diverge in their perspectives, with the Apapa-led faction urging Nigerians to back the Tinubu-led government while offering constructive criticism when necessary.

The faction calls for a thorough investigation into Emefiele’s actions and highlights allegations of misappropriation and involvement in terrorism financing.

Meanwhile, the Abure-led faction refrains from engaging in a lengthy response, considering it unproductive to provide attention to the opposing faction.
