Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, Nominates 16 Commissioner Candidates; 7 Returnees and 9 New Nominees Screened by the House of Assembly

Screening of Commissioner Nominees in Kogi State

The Kogi State House of Assembly recently conducted screenings for sixteen commissioner-nominees, put forward by the newly appointed Governor, Usman Ododo.

Among the nominees, seven are individuals with prior experience in the commissioner role, while the remaining nine are newcomers.

Returning Commissioners and New Faces

The list of returning commissioners includes Salami Ozigi-Deedat, Bashiru Abubakar-Gegu, Wemi Jones, Kingsley Fanwo, Timothy Ojoma, Asiwaju Idris-Asiru, and Mohammed Abdulmutalib.

On the other hand, the nine new faces introduced during the screening are Farouk Danlam, Adams Abdulaziz, Joseph Oluwasegun-Stephen (JOS), Muzi Yinusa-Abdullahi, Rabiatu Okute, Fatima Momoh, Mohammed Yusuf, Sunday Faleke, and Abanika Taye.

Nominees with Designated Portfolios

The House also received names of nine individuals, along with their designated portfolios, for confirmation.

These include Ali Bello as Chief of Staff, Hilary Ojoma as Deputy Chief of Staff, Elijah Evinemi as Head of Service, Jerry Omodara as State Security Adviser, and Isah Ismail as Special Adviser on Media.

The remaining nominees with roles include Sulaiman Ibrahim as Director of General Protocol, Oladele John Nihi as Chief Press Secretary, Shaibu Oricha as Director of General Government House Administration, and Femi Adegboyega as State Legal Adviser.

Unanswered Questions in the Screening Process

Due to time constraints, only 16 commissioner nominees were present during the screening, they introduced themselves, took a bow, and left without responding to any questions from the lawmakers.

The speaker of the house, Alhaji Umar Yusuf, expressed satisfaction with the screening process, praising the members for their diligence in evaluating the 25 nominees.

He described them as credible and qualified individuals tasked with contributing to the progress of Kogi State.

Expectations and Acknowledgment

Speaker Yusuf urged the confirmed nominees to meet the expectations of Governor Ododo, emphasizing their role in assisting him in steering the state towards greater heights.

The commendation was extended to the nominees, whom he deemed as capable sons and daughters of Kogi, ready to take on the responsibilities bestowed upon them.
