Kamohelo Mahlatsi’s Contract Details Revealed as He Joins Chippa United After Kaizer Chiefs Stint

Following his recent transfer to Chippa United, details of Kamohelo Mahlatsi’s contract have come to light.

The skilled midfielder, who joined the club on a free transfer, was unattached for over six months after parting ways with Kaizer Chiefs in September 2023.

Mahlatsi’s Club Journey and Struggle for Game-Time

Mahlatsi’s journey in the previous season saw him spend one year with Amakhosi, having been signed from Moroka Swallows during the 2022/23 PSL campaign.

However, he faced challenges in securing significant game-time with the Naturena-based side, featuring in only seven matches across all competitions.

Failed Attempt with Swallows and Arrival at Chippa

After leaving Chiefs, Mahlatsi attempted to join Swallows a few months ago, but the deal fell through due to the club’s financial instability.

The midfielder arrived at Chippa in January for an assessment, impressing the technical team led by Kwanele Kopo and Thabo September.

Mahlatsi’s Debut for Chippa United

Affectionately known as “Nyaope,” Mahlatsi was unveiled by Chippa United last Friday before their DStv Premiership clash against Stellenbosch FC.

The 25-year-old winger made an immediate impact, securing a spot in the starting lineup. Chippa settled for a 1-1 draw against Stellenbosch at Danie Craven Stadium on the same day, with Antonio van Wyk and Graig Martin contributing to the scoresheet.

Agent Makaab Discloses Contract Length

With Mahlatsi’s return to competitive football, his agent, Mike Makaab, revealed the contract details.

According to Makaab, Mahlatsi has signed with Chippa United until the end of the season. Additionally, the team holds an option to extend the contract for a further year.

Chippa United’s Current League Standing and Next Match

Chippa United, based in Port Elizabeth, currently holds the 12th position on the league table, collecting 20 points in 18 games.

The team has won four games, drawn eight, and lost six times. Their next league match is against Richards Bay FC at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Wednesday, March 5, with kickoff scheduled for 19:30.
