The fixture was initially scheduled to be played in December last year, but due to an outbreak of Covid-19 at Naturena, Amakhosi decided not to show up for the match.

In a nutshell, the PSL weren’t happy, Kaizer Chiefs appealed to SAFA, SAFA’s arbitrator ruled the match should be replayed, the PSL were even unhappier and have appealed that ruling.

The outcome of the clash may still be scrapped depending on that PSL appeal in early May.

But as it stands, despite Cape Town City boss John Comitis saying he wasn’t happy with the way in which they were effectively told when they needed to play, the match is scheduled to go ahead at 15:00.

Kaizer Chiefs’ problems on the field have been well documented of late (be sure to check out The South African website’s expert coverage).

Amakhosi have lost their last three league matches, the first time that has happened in 10 years!

Compounding matters for the Glamour Boys’ fans is that Cape Town City have been terrific in defence this season, keeping a record 12th clean sheet (out of 25 matches) in their most recent clash.

Kaizer Chiefs have a problem!

That’s thanks in a large way to goalkeeper Hugo Marques who is now the first Cape Town City ‘keeper to boast 12 clean sheets in a season.

And the season is not over!

Amakhosi have a problem: If you can’t score, you can’t win!

They have only scored 28 goals in 25 matches at an average of just over one per game.

It could be a long afternoon on Saturday for Kaizer Chiefs supporters!
