Kaizer Chiefs have made a notable move in the January transfer window by adding two experienced forwards to their squad.
This decision is aimed at bolstering their attacking line, which has previously relied heavily on younger players.
A Need for More Experience in Attack
Currently, Chiefs’ top goal scorers are academy graduates Mduduzi Shabalala and Wandile Duba.
While these young players have shown promise, the senior strikers, Ranga Chivaviro and Ashley du Preez, have struggled with consistency and haven’t quite lived up to expectations for a marquee forward.
In response to this, Amakhosi wasted no time in securing the experience of Tashreeq Morris and Glodly Lilepo to strengthen their forward line.
Morris Joins in a Swap Deal
Tashreeq Morris was brought in as part of a swap deal that saw DRC winger Christian Saile move to SuperSport United on loan.
Interestingly, during the same window that Chiefs signed Saile, they had also been keeping an eye on another striker from the DRC—Guily Manziba.
Manziba had previously played for SuperSport United and AmaZulu between 2020 and 2023, but things didn’t quite work out for him at those clubs.
Manziba’s Move to Al Ahly Benghazi
Despite Chiefs’ interest, they never managed to secure a deal for Manziba.
Now, according to Soccer-Laduma, Manziba has made a move to Libyan football giants Al Ahly Benghazi.
The publication confirmed that Manziba has joined the Libyan Premier League side, marking a new chapter in his career.
Saile vs. Manziba: Chiefs’ Missed Opportunity?
Looking back at Saile’s time at Chiefs, where he struggled to make a significant impact, fans may be wondering whether Manziba could have had a more positive effect.
While Saile failed to make his mark in South Africa’s top clubs, Manziba also faced challenges at SuperSport and AmaZulu, where the pressure may have been less intense.
This raises the question: Would Manziba have been a more successful signing than Saile for Chiefs?
