Kaizer Chiefs star the ONLY player NOT to feature for Bafana Bafana

Bruce Bvuma, goalkeeper for Kaizer Chiefs, is the only player in the 23-man Bafana Bafana team for friendlies against Guinea and France who may not play.

Bvuma is one of three goalkeepers in the team, along with Ronwen Williams of SuperSport United and Veli Mothwa of AmaZulu.

Bafana Bafana will face Guinea in Kortrijk, Belgium on Friday, March 25 at 19:00 SA time, and world champions France in Lille on Tuesday, March 29 at 21:15 SA time.

Hugo Broos, the coach, confirmed Bvuma’s absence on Thursday.

“Tomorrow, Mothwa will play and on Tuesday Ronwen will play, so maybe Bvuma will not get any minutes but the rest will play,” Broos confirmed.

In addition, Broos announced that Orlando Pirates midfielder Goodman Mosele is nursing an injury and is only expected to be fit for the France clash.

Bongokuhle Hlongwane and Fagrie Lakay, who play for Minnesota United and Pyramids in the USA and Egypt, respectively, will only link up with the squad – hopefully – on Friday morning.

Their late arrival won’t affect Broos’ planning as his plan was to only use them against France.

“Mosele has a problem with his ankle, he sustained it at Pirates. He’ll also miss tomorrow’s game but I hope he trains on Saturday and play against France. We have two players who haven’t joined us… those players are Hlongwane and Fagrie Lakay..

“They [Hlongwane and Lakay] will join us tomorrow morning [today]. They had some problems with visas. My plan was always to only use them next Tuesday against France, so I didn’t count them for the Guinea game,’ Broos added.
