Kaizer Chiefs, still reeling from a rough loss in Cape Town days before, had a lot to prove against a sharp Stellenbosch side.
With players like Devon Titus and Jayden Adams, Stellenbosch was no easy opponent for Nasreddine Nabi’s team.
The game started with a setback for Chiefs when Khomotjo Lekoloane struck in the 20th minute, putting the Maroons ahead.
It looked like another frustrating day for Chiefs, but Wandile Duba stepped up just before halftime.
A well-placed rebound header leveled the score, giving the Chiefs hope.
In the second half, neither team dominated, but Mfundo Vilakazi’s exquisite pass set Duba up for a clinical finish past Sage Stephens.
The final whistle blew with Chiefs taking a hard-fought 2-1 victory.
Cape Town City vs. Orlando Pirates: Missed Chances
Orlando Pirates started their match against Cape Town City with energy and purpose.
Kabelo Dlamini nearly put them ahead, only to be denied by the post after a brilliant save from Darren Keet.
The second half, however, saw Cape Town City grow into the game.
They exposed gaps in Pirates’ defense and created dangerous opportunities.
A missed penalty from Patrick Maswanganyi proved costly for the visitors, as Darwin González’s deflected shot sealed the win for Cape Town City.
The match ended 1-0, leaving the Buccaneers frustrated.
