Kaizer Chiefs Prepare to Offload Goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari After Challenging Season in South Africa

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly preparing to part ways with goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari after a short and challenging spell at the club.

The 25-year-old Rwandan international was brought in from TS Galaxy before the start of the current season as a replacement for the club’s long-serving goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune.

However, Ntwari’s time at Chiefs has been far from ideal, and after just five league appearances, he now faces the prospect of leaving after just one season.

Ntwari’s Struggles and Injury Setbacks at Kaizer Chiefs

Ntwari’s debut for Kaizer Chiefs got off to a rough start, conceding over 10 goals in his initial outings.

His struggles were further compounded by an injury, which saw him sidelined and replaced by Brandon Petersen.

Despite hopes of a strong comeback, Ntwari was ultimately benched in favor of more experienced goalkeeper, Bruce Bvuma.

His inability to make a significant impact has led to speculations about his future with the club.

Potential Move to Europe on the Horizon for Ntwari

According to reports from The Citizen’s Mgosi Squad, Ntwari could be heading to Europe next season.

The goalkeeper had previously been courted by European clubs before joining Kaizer Chiefs, but at the time, he chose the South African club for the opportunity to play regularly.

However, with his tenure at Chiefs not unfolding as he had hoped, Ntwari is now reportedly open to a move overseas.

“There were European clubs that were interested in Ntwari even before he joined Chiefs, but he wanted to play for Chiefs.

But now that things have not turned out the way he would have liked, he is keen to move to Europe,” shared an anonymous source.

Does Kaizer Chiefs Need a New Goalkeeper?

Given that Kaizer Chiefs spent a considerable amount on Ntwari, releasing him after just five matches would be a significant decision.

While Bvuma has performed admirably in goal, the club’s defense has been shaky, conceding 28 goals this season—ranking them with the third-worst defensive record in the league.

With seven matches still to go, things could get worse, especially as top centre-back Rushwin Dortley is also dealing with an injury.

To improve their defensive stability and challenge teams like Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, Chiefs may need to bring in a more reliable and experienced goalkeeper.

Names like Stanley Nwabili from Chippa United and Ricardo Goss from SuperSport United have been linked with potential moves to Amakhosi.

The Road Ahead for Kaizer Chiefs and Their Goalkeeper Search

It’s clear that Kaizer Chiefs are in need of a more solid goalkeeper if they want to improve their performance and title chances.

Whether they stick with their current crop of goalkeepers or look for an upgrade, the club’s next moves will be crucial in ensuring they can compete at the highest level.
