Kaizer Chiefs Prepare to Make Major Moves in the January Transfer Window with New Forward Signings and Potential Additions in South Africa

As the January transfer window continues, Kaizer Chiefs are looking like one of the busiest teams on the market.

Reports indicate that the club is preparing to announce not one, but two new forward signings by the end of next week.

New Additions to the Attack

The first major move for the Chiefs came last week when it was revealed that they had reached an agreement to sign SuperSport United’s striker Tashreeq Morris.

The lanky targetman is expected to join the team in a swap deal, with Christian Saile making the move in the opposite direction.

But that’s not all for the Amakhosi.

They are also set to sign DR Congo international Glody Lilepo, further bolstering their attacking options.

Glody Lilepo Joins Chiefs

On Tuesday evening, it was reported that Chiefs had come to terms with Valenciennes FC for the transfer of Lilepo.

The DRC winger has already agreed to personal terms with the club, and he is now set to fly to South Africa soon to undergo his medical examination.

In addition to Lilepo, Chiefs are also offering teenage striker Naledi Hlongwane a three-year contract, giving him the chance to shine in the senior squad.

Could Thabo Cele Be Next?

There’s even more to come for Chiefs, as a potential fourth addition is on the horizon.

Bafana Bafana international Thabo Cele, who has long been a target for the club, recently became a free agent after his Russian club, FC Fakel Voronezh, terminated his contract for personal reasons.

In their statement, the club hinted at where Cele’s future may lie.

Thabo Cele’s Contract Termination

According to the statement from FC Fakel Voronezh, the midfielder’s contract was terminated due to serious health issues in his family.

The statement also noted that Cele is now only allowed to play for teams in South Africa until his contract ends in June 2025.

With this in mind, Chiefs could very well seize this opportunity to bring Cele into their squad, especially since he has been a long-time target of theirs.

The South African U23 international has also made no secret of his desire to play for the club.

A Potential Short-Term Deal for Cele

Kaizer Chiefs have been actively seeking to strengthen their midfield, so signing Cele on a free transfer would be a smart move.

With all signs pointing toward a possible short-term deal, it looks increasingly likely that the midfielder could soon join the Amakhosi ranks.

What Do Chiefs Fans Think?

The question now is whether or not fans would be happy to see Thabo Cele don the famous gold and black.
