Following reports that Kaizer Chiefs star Serbian striker Samir Nurkovic has signed a contract with Royal AM, Gabadinho Mhango could very well be on his way to Naturena in his place!
Both players enjoyed blistering starts at their respective clubs (Chiefs and Orlando Pirates) however they somewhat fell off the wheel shortly thereafter and a fresh start may be the perfect trick to rekindle their goal scoring prowess.
Nurkovic joined the Glamour Boys in 2019 and made an immediate impact at the club, scoring 14 league goals for Ernst Middendorp’s title challenging Kaizer Chiefs side.
Gabadinho Mhango on the other hand went one better than Nurkovic and notched up 16 league goals in his maiden season at Orlando Pirates which saw him share the Golden Boot with Peter Shalulile.
The duo however ultimately failed to reach their opening heights after that and are now headed for the exit door at Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
Gabadinho Mhango has also confirmed that he’ll be leaving Orlando Pirates at the end of the season making it a no brainer for the Amakhosi to go out of their way to sign him as Nurkovic’s replacement!
Kaizer Chiefs star signs for Royal AM – Report
“Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic is set for a sensational exit from the Soweto giants after officially signing for a DStv Premiership rival.” a Kick-off report read.
“With his contract talks dragging and injury niggles his impact faded in his second season and again this term with seven goals to his name since the beginning of last season.
“KicKOff can now confirm that the Serbian has signed with ambitious club Royal AM. The lucrative transfer will be a two-year deal with a further option of an additional year.”
In other Kaizer Chiefs transfer news, Orlando Pirates striker Gabadinho Mhango has been linked with a move to the Glamour Boys.
Mhango will likely be a direct switch for Samir Nurkovic, should the Amakhosi manage to land him after he confirmed his own departure from their rivals!
Orlando Pirates star confirms departure!
“We had a meeting recently and both parties agreed by mutual consent to part ways.” the Kaizer Chiefs target Gabadinho Mhango said as quoted by Citizen.
“It is a huge relief to me because I was hardly enjoying game time. It has been a stressful season for me and I can’t wait to move on and, hopefully, this will be a new dawn for my career.
“My agent told me that there are a few clubs that he is talking to and we are having another meeting (on Friday) for an update.
“So, that’s where we are and I am just waiting to see what will come up at the end of the season. Of course, there were issues at Orlando Pirates, but they were blown out of proportion.
“I have been training hard. I have been outstanding during training, but surprisingly, the coaches have been ignoring me.
“And there is nothing I can do about it. It could be something personal, I really don’t know what was happening.”
Gabadinho Mhango has been valued at approximately R13 million while outbound Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic is valued at R10 million.
