‘It’s not me’: Unathi distances herself from popular TikTok account

South African musician and former Idols SA judge Unathi Nkayi is pretty active on social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram. One platform she hasn’t started using is TikTok – someone pretending to be her has taken advantage of that. She recently headed online to share that she is definitely not on TikTok and that her fans shouldn’t be fooled by the imposter.

A person pretending to be famous SA media personality Unathi Nkayi on TikTok has managed to fool thousands of people.

The TikTok account which features photos and videos of Unathi has already amassed over 21 000 followers and thousands of likes.

In the bio, the fake Unathi writes that she (or he) can offer “advice for a successful business career”.

Unathi has however said that this account does not belong to her and that her followers and fans should not be fooled.

“I am not on TikTok and for the record, this is not my account. Don’t know who it is but it’s not me,” she wrote in an Instagram post on Sunday last weekend.

Her followers react

Many of her followers quickly shared how the account has already started messaging people and pretending to be her.

Others suggested that she actually join the app and get verified because it’s evident people would love her content.
