HighVista Strategies has expanded its private equity secondaries platform with the appointment of Ramit Malhotra as Principal, reinforcing the firm’s growing presence in the GP-led secondaries market.

Based in New York, Malhotra will join the firm’s dedicated GP-led secondaries team as HighVista continues to build out the strategy launched earlier this year.

Appointment Builds on Recent Team Expansion

Malhotra’s arrival marks another strategic hire for HighVista following the recent addition of Michelle Santos, who joined the GP-led secondaries platform as Vice President.

The appointments reflect the firm’s ongoing investment in strengthening its capabilities within a rapidly expanding segment of the private equity market.

Supporting a Growing GP-Led Secondaries Strategy

The GP-led secondaries business was introduced by HighVista as an extension of its long-established lower middle market private equity platform.

The strategy is designed to combine the firm’s extensive network of lower middle market relationships with specialized expertise in secondaries transactions, allowing it to pursue opportunities in an increasingly active market.

The platform is led by Managing Director and Head of Private Equity Secondaries Raudel Yanez, who brings more than 12 years of experience focused exclusively on secondaries investing.

His leadership is intended to support HighVista’s efforts to expand its footprint in GP-led transactions while leveraging the firm’s existing investment relationships.

Malhotra Brings Extensive Secondaries Experience

Before joining HighVista, Malhotra served as Principal on the private equity secondaries team at CPP Investments (Canada Pension Plan Investment Board), where he focused on secondaries investments.

His career also includes serving as Vice President at Spring Bridge Partners.

Prior to that, he held a secondaries-focused investment role at Credit Suisse and began his professional career in investment banking at Wells Fargo, building a broad foundation across private equity and financial advisory.

HighVista Continues to Expand Alternative Investment Capabilities

Founded in 2004, HighVista Strategies is an employee-owned alternative asset manager headquartered in Boston.

The firm manages approximately $14 billion in assets for institutional and sophisticated investors worldwide.

Its investment platform spans multiple alternative asset classes, including private credit, lower middle market private equity, early-stage venture capital, biotechnology equities, hedged public markets strategies, and diversified multi-asset alternatives, with a focus on identifying opportunities in structurally inefficient markets.

Outlook

With the addition of Ramit Malhotra and the recent expansion of its leadership team, HighVista is continuing to invest in its GP-led secondaries platform as it seeks to broaden its presence in the evolving private equity secondaries landscape.

The latest appointments position the firm to pursue additional opportunities while building on its established expertise in lower middle market investing.
