The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has taken action against structures believed to be unlawfully constructed on state-owned properties.
In his inaugural speech, Governor Yusuf ordered security agencies to reclaim public properties that were sold under the previous administration led by Governor Umaru Ganduje.
These properties include various locations such as schools, religious and cultural sites, hospitals and clinics, graveyards, green areas, and areas along the city wall of Kano.
Furthermore, the governor expressed his dismay at the state of the Kano State Pilgrims Camp, which he visited recently and discovered had been compromised by the previous administration.
Demolition of Structures on Kano Race Course:
A task force established by Governor Yusuf initiated the demolition of structures within the Kano Race Course (Filin Sukuwa) on Friday night.
These structures were deemed to be in violation of the law, prompting the governor’s decisive action to restore the integrity of state-owned properties.
The demolition signifies the governor’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and reclaiming government assets from those who obtained them illegally.
Cease of Land Development at the Hajj Camp:
In addition to the demolition at the Kano Race Course, Governor Yusuf issued a directive on Friday ordering all land developers at the Hajj Camp to immediately halt their activities.
The governor expressed disappointment over the misuse of the camp, originally intended to serve as a temporary residence for pilgrims from Kano State and beyond.
He discovered that numerous plots of land within the camp had been unlawfully sold to individuals connected to the previous administration.
This directive demonstrates the governor’s determination to rectify the misuse of public resources and protect the interests of the state and its citizens.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has taken decisive measures to address the issue of illegally erected structures on government properties.
Through the demolition of these structures and the cessation of land development at the Hajj Camp, the governor aims to reclaim and preserve public assets that were unlawfully acquired or misused under the previous administration.
