Government says it has concluded the SABC’s analogue switch off in five provinces and has re-arranged spectrum for provinces that have concluded the process.

The five provinces are the Free State, Northern Cape, North West, Mpumalanga and Limpopo.

South Africa’s digital migration and analogue switch off was postponed to June the 30th 2022 , after a high court ruling in Gauteng.

Communications and Digital Technologies Minister Khumbudzo Ntshavheni briefed the media on Thursday, on progress in digital migration.

“The SABC analogue switch off in the five provinces of Free State, Northern Cape, North West, Mpumalanga and Limpopo … in the provinces where the analogue has been switched off, we have concluded a process of re arranging spectrum in these five provinces thereby giving way for spectrum to be assigned for future digital usage,” explains Minister Ntshavheni.
