Kuala Lumpur-born Nur Ashikin, when met after receiving the fellowship from Khazanah managing director Datuk Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir, expressed her hope that she would be able to share the knowledge gained and contribute more to Bernama through her writings.
“I would like to thank Khazanah for selecting me as one of the participants. I hope this programme will give a positive impact, namely broader knowledge not only to myself, but also to Bernama once I completed the programme.
“I am excited and anxious at the same time as it is a challenge to go abroad but it is also a good opportunity to explore the world and focus on the study that I am interested in,” she said.
Meanwhile, Bernama executive editor Harlina Samson who was also present at the ceremony, said the news agency was proud and honoured that its assistant news editor has been selected for this programme.
“Thank you Khazanah for selecting Bernama journalist. It is a very meaningful opportunity to gain knowledge and exchange views with participants from various countries.
She also hoped that Nur Ashikin can share a new style of working with Bernama when she returns to Malaysia as opportunities such as this should be seized by all journalists.
