Four DANGEROUS prisoners who escaped in MARCH are still at large 

Four DANGEROUS prisoners who escaped from the Rooigrond Correctional Facility in March this year are STILL at large, the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) said.

HOW DID THE FOUR PRISONERS ESCAPE?

Spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo, could on Tuesday not yet provide details regarding the circumstances relating to the escape nor indicate if investigations have been concluded.

“Investigations will be instituted, and the circumstances relating to the escape will be revealed once investigations have been concluded,”
Nxumalo said.

WHO ARE THE ESCAPEES, AND WHAT WERE THEY CONVICTED FOR?

The inmates are:

Zacharia Francisco Nyalimate (Mozambican) was convicted for housebreaking and murder. He is serving 27 years.

Alfred Gwambe (Mozambican) was convicted for housebreaking, theft, the possession of a stolen vehicle. He is serving 65 years.

Siyabonga Sithole (South African) was convicted for rape, theft, and housebreaking and is serving a life sentence,

Edward Madiba (South African) was convicted for robbery possession of a firearm and is serving 15 years.

Nxumalo said the Department is appealing to the public to assist with any information that may lead to the re-arrest of this four.

“They are considered dangerous, and if spotted, information should be shared with the nearest Police Station.”

On Sunday five DANGEROUS inmates have escaped after they overpowered a police officer and took the cell key from the officer in Zeerust.

THE FIVE MEN ESCAPED FROM A HOLDING CELL ON SUNDAY

The Zeerust police have launched a manhunt for five men who escaped. All five of them were awaiting trial for crimes, including house robbery, rape, attempted murder, business robbery, and aggravated robbery.

According to the police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone the men escaped on Sunday.

“Police in Zeerust launched a manhunt for five awaiting trial detainees who escaped from lawful custody at about 10:30 on Sunday, 8 May 2022.
