Former Kaizer Chiefs Striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana Joins USM Alger in a Surprising Move to Strengthen Their Attack

Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana, who gained recognition in South Africa during his time with Kaizer Chiefs, has made a surprising switch to Algerian football powerhouse USM Alger.

The 27-year-old forward, who most recently played for Zob Ahan Esfahan in the Persian Gulf Pro League, parted ways with the Iranian club before the January transfer window closed.

Bimenyimana’s Journey to Algeria

After leaving Zob Ahan Esfahan, Bimenyimana became a free agent, and it didn’t take long for USM Alger to express interest in signing him.

The towering striker had previously made waves in South Africa when he joined Kaizer Chiefs from Burundi.

However, his time with the South African club was relatively short-lived as Chiefs released him after just one season.

During his season at Chiefs, Bimenyimana managed to score eight goals across all competitions, but injury issues played a significant role in his departure from the club.

New Opportunity with USM Alger

Now, Bimenyimana has found a new home with USM Alger, signing a one-and-a-half-year contract with the eight-time Algerian league champions.

As of now, USM Alger sits in third place in the league, just three points behind leaders MC Alger after 15 matches.

Additionally, the club has performed well in international competition, reaching the quarterfinals of the CAF Confederation Cup.

They topped their group, finishing with 14 points, ahead of teams like ASC Jaraaf (Senegal), Orapa United (Nigeria), and ASEC Mimosas (Ivory Coast), while Orapa United and Jaraaf were eliminated.

A Promising Future for USM Alger?

With Bimenyimana’s signing, USM Alger has strengthened their attacking options.

The question now is whether he can help propel the team to greater success.

Fans are eager to see how his experience will contribute to the team’s ongoing league and continental campaigns.
