Former Police Inspector Charged with 29 Counts of Sexual Assaults Dating Back Over 20 Year

Gerard Hutchings, a 64-year-old resident of Wingrove Road, Ashurst, Hampshire, has been charged with 29 counts, including indecent assaults, causing a person to engage in sexual activity, and misconduct in a public office.

These charges relate to alleged incidents that occurred between 1999 and 2007 at various police stations in the Hampshire force area, where Hutchings worked as an inspector.

The complainants were aged between 17 and 31 years old at the time.

Investigation Initiated in 2021 The Operation Marmion team began an investigation in 2021 after receiving reports about the alleged sexual offenses.

Gerard Hutchings left the police force in 2007, and the investigation into his alleged misconduct began 14 years later.

Upcoming Court Appearance Gerard Hutchings is scheduled to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on December 5, 2023. The legal proceedings will address the charges brought against him, shedding further light on the case.
