The minister, co-founder of New Planet Projects, faced allegations of benefiting from a reported N438 million contract awarded by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
Interior Minister Denies Wrongdoing
Denying any wrongdoing, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo asserted that he had ceased to be a director of New Planet Projects in 2019.
A leaked document had exposed the firm’s receipt of the funds as payment for “consultancy fees” from the beleaguered humanitarian ministry.
Code of Conduct Bureau Investigation Confirmed
The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has confirmed inviting Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo to its headquarters in Abuja for an investigation into the alleged breach of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers.
The CCB’s Director of Investigation and Monitoring, Gwimi S.P., signed the letter, stating that Tunji-Ojo is expected to appear on Tuesday.
President Tinubu Approves N3 Billion for Social Register Verification
President Bola Tinubu has approved the release of N3 billion for the verification of the National Social Register, created under former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
