EA SPORTS FC Unveils the Men’s and Women’s Team of the Year Nominees with Football Giants Like Virgil van Dijk, Lauren Hemp, and more Competing for a Spot

The highly anticipated shortlists for the EA SPORTS FC Team of the Year have officially been unveiled, with both men’s and women’s categories filled with top-tier football talent.

This exciting announcement was made on Monday afternoon, and now fans have the chance to cast their votes until Sunday, January 12th.

Men’s Shortlist Highlights

The men’s shortlist features some of the biggest names in football, including perennial award winners Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

These two legends are part of a star-studded group of attackers, which also includes Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr, and the explosive Kylian Mbappe.

In-demand Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres and Barcelona’s rising star Lamine Yamal are also among the 31 attacking nominees.

Yamal, who made waves during Euro 2024 with Spain, is joined by his national teammate Rodri, with the Ballon d’Or winner topping the list of midfield nominees.

The defensive lineup features elite players like Virgil van Dijk and Antonio Rudiger, while Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez, a World Cup winner with Argentina, is one of the seven goalkeepers up for voting.

In total, there are eight England internationals on the men’s side, including Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, and Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane.

Women’s Shortlist Highlights

The women’s shortlist is equally impressive, with several Lionesses making the cut.

Defenders Alex Greenwood and Lucy Bronze are up for nomination, alongside dynamic forwards Lauren Hemp and Lauren James.

Hemp, along with her Manchester City teammate Khadija “Bunny” Shaw, has earned her place among the nominees, while Chelsea’s Mayra Ramirez joins James in the forward category.

Wolfsburg’s Alexandra Popp, who played a key role in Germany’s Olympic gold medal win in 2016, is also nominated.

Meanwhile, Spain’s Aitana Bonmati, who has won consecutive Ballon d’Or awards, leads the stacked midfield nominations alongside Pernille Harder and Brazil’s legendary Marta.

What’s Next?

Fans can continue voting for their favorite players until January 12th, with the final Team of the Year rosters being unveiled on Wednesday, January 15th in EA SPORTS FC 25.

The men’s team will also be available in EA SPORTS FC Mobile starting Tuesday, January 21st.
