D’banj Takes Legal Action to Stop Defamatory Posts by Brother-in-Law Do2dtun

D’banj Files for Injunction Against Brother-in-Law Do2dtun

Nigerian singer, D’banj, has taken legal action to restrain his estranged brother-in-law, Do2dtun, from making defamatory and malicious posts on social media.

The application for an injunction was submitted at an Abuja federal court and granted by Judge Emmanuel Iyanna.

Legal Action Initiated by D’banj

Through one of his lawyers, Toheeb Lawal, D’banj pursued legal recourse to address the ongoing social media attacks by Do2dtun.

The court’s response to this case bears Motion No: MN/218/2023.

Injunction Granted by the Court

The court, in response to D’banj’s application, issued an injunction on October 18, 2023.

The injunction restrains Do2dtun from making any further malicious, intimidating, or defamatory posts directed at D’banj on social media platforms like X and Instagram or in news media.

This injunction will remain in effect pending the hearing and determination of the substantive case.

Investigation Ordered by the Court

In addition to the injunction, the court directed the Deputy Inspector of Police, Force Intelligence Bureau, to conduct an investigation into the criminal complaint filed by D’banj against Do2dtun.

This investigation is expected to be completed within two weeks, with a subsequent report to be presented to the court.

Background of the Dispute

Do2dtun, who is married to D’banj’s sister, Taiwo, has engaged in a social media campaign against D’banj for several weeks.

Central to the dispute are allegations by Do2dtun that he has been denied access to his children. In response, Taiwo, D’banj’s sister, refuted these claims, asserting that D’banj has continued to have access to their kids.

In conclusion, the legal action taken by D’banj against Do2dtun seeks to put an end to the defamatory online attacks, with the court granting an injunction and initiating a formal investigation into the matter.

The dispute revolves around allegations of child custody and access between the two family members.
