The post office says that surface mail to China is still available. The post office revealed that a mail service to Malta and Luxembourg has been introduced. SAPO now offers an airmail service to 34 countries while it offers surface mail to 51 countries.

It said that customers who order items from other countries need to include their cell phone numbers and address details. This will assist the post office in sending customers an SMS when their item is ready to be collected.

SA post office urges customers to take care when packaging items to be sent abroad

Customers who are sending items to other countries need to ensure they do not send anything that is not allowed. This includes arms, ammunition, explosives, liquids or any other item that could break or leak. Plant and animal materials may not be sent to other countries, says the post office.

Customers are advised to visit the postal administration website of the receiving country. Another important aspect to make note of is that mail is transported in bulk. Therefore, customers are urged to take extra care when packing items for dispatch overseas.
