Costco Announces Extended Gas Station Hours Across U.S. Locations as Part of New Customer Convenience Plan

Costco is making some changes to its gas station hours, right after revealing plans to expand its store presence across the U.S. This move follows their ongoing push to improve customer convenience.

The retail giant shared an update on social media, announcing extended operating hours for its gas stations.

Starting soon, drivers will be able to fuel up from Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.

On Saturdays, gas stations will stay open until 8:30 p.m., and on Sundays, the stations will close at 7:30 p.m.

However, it’s important to note that these new hours won’t affect Costco locations in California or Hawaii.

Costco’s Gas Prices: A Big Draw for Drivers

One of the reasons Costco’s gas stations are so popular is the brand’s reputation for offering lower prices than many competitors.

For many drivers, the sight of long lines at Costco gas pumps has become a familiar one across the country.

“I save about 15 to 30 cents per gallon on average compared to other stations around here,” one Reddit user commented, praising the discount.

This price advantage is especially noticeable for those who need premium fuel.

For example, a Costco in Pennsylvania was offering premium gas at $3.38 per gallon, while a nearby gas-only station charged $3.59.

If you have a larger vehicle with a gas tank that holds up to 18 gallons, you could save nearly $4 every time you fill up.

For regular gas, the difference isn’t as big but still notable.

Costco charged $2.94 per gallon compared to $2.99 at a nearby station.

For a full tank, drivers could save around $0.90.

Costco’s Expansion Plans Continue to Roll Out

Beyond gas stations, Costco is also busy expanding its reach with new store openings.

In March alone, six new locations are set to open, with even more planned for April.

Here’s the list of upcoming store openings:

  • Sharon, Massachusetts – March 1
  • Brentwood, California – March 7
  • Highland, California – March 8
  • Genesee County, Michigan – March 13
  • Prosper, Texas – March 14
  • Weatherford, Texas – March 15

Additionally, a new store will be opening in Stuart, Florida in April, though the exact date will depend on construction and staffing progress.

This is all part of Costco’s long-term expansion strategy.

The company announced plans to open 29 new warehouses in 2025 alone. This growth comes as Costco continues to see impressive sales figures.

In fact, the company reported a 6.6% increase in U.S. sales for the first quarter of 2025.

Costco’s Continued Success Despite Price Increases

Despite raising membership fees in September 2024 for the first time in seven years, Costco has kept customers loyal.

The price for a Gold Star membership now costs $65, up from $60, while Executive memberships are priced at $130, up from $120.

While Costco thrives, its competitors are facing challenges.

Walmart recently announced that it expects slower growth in 2025, partly due to inflation and tariffs.

Similarly, Target has adjusted its earnings forecast downward after losing customers who were searching for lower-priced items.

With its expanding store footprint and continued popularity, Costco seems well-positioned to keep gaining momentum in the coming year.
