A disturbing incident unfolded at a Brooklyn laundromat when an employee was violently attacked by an enraged customer.
The altercation occurred after the employee informed the man that his laundry wasn’t ready for pickup.
Details of the Attack
The 50-year-old woman worked at a 24-hour laundromat on Bath Avenue in Brooklyn. On Monday morning, a customer dropped off his clothes, but when he returned later in the day, he was told his items were not yet ready. This news triggered an aggressive response from him.
Witnesses reported that the man, in a fit of rage, slashed the woman’s neck and arms before 2 p.m.
The employee was subsequently rushed to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn.
Although her identity has not been disclosed, she shared with the New York Post that she recognized the attacker as an occasional customer.
She also mentioned that his mother lives nearby.
Police Investigation and Suspect Details
Police were dispatched around 1:39 p.m., but by then, the suspect had already fled the scene.
He was described as wearing a gray shirt and white sneakers, and was last seen heading north on 21st Avenue toward Benson Avenue.
No arrests have been made yet, according to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Public Information.
Recent Similar Incident
This violent event follows a recent attack in the same area. Just a month ago, a Jewish man was slashed by a suspect shouting “Free Palestine” near a local synagogue.
The 22-year-old attacker, Vincent Sumpter, was charged with assault as a hate crime.
The victim, 33-year-old Yechiel Dabrowskin, was left hospitalized after the incident on August 11.
Dabrowskin, who was in the U.S. for religious studies, was walking home from a meal near the Chabad Headquarters in Crown Heights when the attack occurred.
What’s next in Brooklyn’s ongoing cycle of violence remains to be seen.
