A number of decisive matches took place in the boys’ division. Blacksburg marked a significant win over Christiansburg, ending the game with a score of 62-51. In a nail-biting match, Bland County emerged victorious against Grayson County with a score of 48-38. The roaring cheers echoed as Booker T. Washington High School secured a win against Granby, demonstrating their prowess with a 67-46 scoreline, while Bruton displayed strategic gameplay to beat Poquoson 54-48.
Other games that kept the spectators on the edge included Carroll County overcoming Radford 61-55, Churchland defeating Norview 58-54 in an adrenaline-fueled overtime, and Clarke County winning against Luray 69-59.
Girls’ Division Showdowns
On the girls’ division court, the athletes matched their male counterparts with equal vigor and skill. Appomattox claimed a win over Brookville, marking the scoreboard with a score of 31-24. Bland County’s girls’ team also marked a victory against Grayson County with a score of 64-40, while Christiansburg girls’ team outplayed Blacksburg with a triumphant score of 50-45.
Additional matches saw Central – Wise dominate Gate City with an impressive 83-44 scoreline, East Rockingham outmaneuver Rappahannock County 41-31, and Gainesville securing a resounding win against Battlefield 57-29. These games underscore the relentless competition and abundant talent present in high school sports.
