In a significant move aimed at fortifying the intelligence capabilities of the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has directed the immediate posting of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to head the Intelligence Department at Zonal and State Commands nationwide.

The directive, disclosed in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, signifies a strategic step towards strengthening the intelligence apparatus of the Police Force.

The statement emphasizes that the posting is grounded in the IGP’s vision, wherein, upon assuming office, he reactivated the Presidential approval to elevate the Force Intelligence Bureau to the status of a Department.

The newly established Department of Force Intelligence is under the leadership of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Habu Sanni.

The IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, has tasked the appointed Senior Officers to effectively deploy all intelligence-based assets at their disposal to combat crimes and criminality within their respective areas of responsibility.
