The confirmation of Aiyedatiwa as acting governor emerged after Governor Rotimi Akeredolu informed the State House of Assembly about his need for another medical leave.

In compliance with Section 190 of the Constitution, Speaker Olamide Oladiji disclosed that Aiyedatiwa would take charge in an acting capacity until further notice from Governor Akeredolu.
