Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has taken action to dismiss certain categories of civil servants who were employed during the tenure of the immediate past administration led by Governor Samuel Ortom.
The directive was communicated through a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Tersoo Kula.
Reversion of Appointments and Nullification of Postings
Governor Alia has ordered civil servants and individuals appointed as Permanent Secretaries by the previous administration from January 2023 to date to immediately revert to their previous positions.
Furthermore, the governor nullified all recent appointments made by the previous administration into the State Civil Service from May 2022 until present.
Additionally, any postings and transfers made within the state civil service from October 2022 to date have also been nullified.
Immediate Compliance Required
The statement emphasizes that all individuals affected by the directive must comply with the instructions promptly.
Recent appointments into the State Civil Service made by the previous administration are deemed null and void.
Those who have retired but are still occupying their offices due to extensions or contract appointments are instructed to proceed with retirement immediately.
Civil servants who are eligible for retirement but have not yet submitted their retirement letters or notices are directed to do so immediately and proceed with retirement.
Furthermore, civil servants and individuals appointed as Permanent Secretaries from January 2023 to date are to revert to their previous positions.
Reversion of Ranks, Stations, and Offices
The statement specifies that affected staff members should revert to their former ranks, stations, or offices without delay.
